Every year, the NBTC publishes a ranking of the most visited day attractions. The ratios in this ranking are known in broad terms. Efteling is the most popular amusement park. Of all the museums, the Rijksmuseum attracts the most visitors. And Burgers Zoo is the vanguard of the animal parks in the Netherlands. Do the same ratios apply on social media?

With the NBTC figures in hand, my colleagues and I have created an alternative ranking (pdf). I understanding hong kong’s startup ecosystem: framework and future directionsn addition to the current offline visitor figures, we have included the absolute and relative reach on Facebook and Twitter. And then remarkable shifts can be seen.

Top 10 Social Benchmark Day Attractions

Museums in particular are successful on social media
Most day attractions clearly pay attention to social media. Museums in particular are extremely successful in this. Not only when you look at the number of likes and followers, but also when you relate this reach to museum visits. In the table this is shown at ratio: the ratio between Facebook and Twitter reach versus visits.

The Anne Frank House has claimed the leading role online as the number 11 day attraction in the Netherlands. The score of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is also remarkable. In the NBTC ranking they are listed at position 18, while social earns the fifth position. The Zaanse Schans clean email stands out in a negative way: the number 4 on the ranking of most visited day attractions does not get further than position 46 in the area of ​​social reach.

Which social media?

Facebook is without a doubt the most popular in the social media mix of day attractions. A  don’t neglect ux design tour of the websites shows that on the homepages of day attractions a number of social channels are actively promoted.
